The Hound

I own a Beagle. She's named Molly but she doesn't reapond to it unless there's food involved. Never was there a dog breed more stubborn. You'd think that somewhere along the line, the mule DNA would have been rooted out of the gene pool and you could have a nice, obedient dog, hanging on its master's every command. Oh well, if I'd wanted obedient, I should have gotten a Border Collie, eh?

Or there's the one that says, "What's your problem?" (perfectly illustrated in the second photo, which shows what she did to one of our chairs in order to get just that little bit more snug.

No matter what she does, it's impossible to stay angry at her for long. You just cannot maintain it when she nudges your leg with her nose when you're trying to ignore her, or sits and begs...

Dammit! Aliens lifeforms have enslaved me!

See the damage? That's just from her sitting up on the top and her weight gradually bursting the zip until the cushion fell forward. So she (apparently) decided that the outside was nice and warm, so the inside must be even more cosy... With the end result as shown. Thing is, it's that look again that says, "And your problem is what, exactly?"

Don't get me wrong, Molly's a good dog - great with kids and very good natured and well socialised with other dogs. But you'd have thought that with ears that size, they might be more than just decorative.

I read somewhere that a dog will be deaf to all commands, but has hearing sensitive enough to hear a biscuit packet being opened miles away. That is a fact, by the way. I've conducted research on the subject under scientific conditions.

I've decided that this page will probably be exclusively pictures of Molly (mainly because ones of me are too horrible to contemplate!)

Here's another one that I'm actually quite proud of. It captures what I was saying above perfectly! See, she'd rather chew off her own ear than listen to me! It's just not fair. The dedication to purpose is phenomenal here; even at eight weeks old, she's in training to ignore me. Fantastic!

Cute as a button, though, damn her!

See? That's the very look! There, to the left! Mind-control in action, I tell you... I'm helpless against it. It's not fair because we're supposed to be the ones who evolved to the top of the tree, aren't we? The smart ones? The ones with the big brains aren't supposed to be twisted round the paw of such creatures as these, are we?

No! Our every wish is supposed to be their command... Where did it all go wrong?
